Founded by F. Matthias Alexander during the early 1900s, the Alexander Technique methodically works to modify everyday habits. Through improving ease and freedom of movement, balance, support and coordination, the Alexander Technique promotes adequate appropriation of effort and energy in individual activities. The Alexander Technique is an approach that identifies areas of a person's bodily movements that need adjusting. Daily activities such as walking, speaking, standing, sitting, bending and other anatomical functions can affect the way one feels and acts. In using the Alexander Technique, one can learn to isolate the improper usages of his/her body. Through Alexander Technique application, body alignment if modified to correct these physical, behavioral problems.
